Plan B....Duty Calls

For anyone that has planned a wedding, you know how tedious the entire process can be. So many choices, so many decisions and so much money! I wanted Lauren's wedding to be everything she ever dreamed of and so much more. I will admit that the wedding planning came much sooner than I had expected, but I was perfectly okay with her decision to marry the young man she met in 7th grade. Cole is everything I had hoped for in a son-in-law and I know without a doubt that he adores my girl.

Deep in the midst of wedding planning, Cole got the word that he is being deployed in May. Well, that's a problem because the wedding is June 25th. Apparently the military doesn't give a hoot if you have life changing plans such as a wedding. We put the brakes on the wedding plans and within a week, on March 4, 2011, Lauren married her soldier in Colorado Springs in front of me, her Mimi and a judge. It was perfectly simple.

The happy couple spent their honeymoon weekend at the beautiful Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs while I got to spend some alone time with my mom, which is rare these days.

Just a few days later, Lauren was back in school in Ohio and her new husband went back to work serving our country. This is the life that they will be living for the next few years.
