It's time for testing again and Lauren is scheduled for yet another MRI of her neck and CT scan of her chest. She had an ultrasound this past week which revealed a questionable lymph node in the same problem area as before so we will continue to watch it and make sure it's not cancerous. Her lab tests should be back in a few days which will tell us if there's any remaining thyroid tissue in her body. We don't want that! Overall she looks and feels great and is looking forward to homecoming in a few weeks.
I'm reminded each time we go to the doctor that there is NO CURE for cancer and we must all remain vigilant in our healthcare and be aware of any changes in our bodies. Even the smallest of changes should be discussed with your doctor. September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month and I urge you to seek yearly physicals and ask for thyroid testing.
I also wanted to thank each and every one of you that has helped spread the word about thyroid cancer and about our kids. We have such an amazing group of volunteers that believe in the work we're doing and I can't thank you enough for all your hard work. Most of all, thank God for another day.
Hugs and blessings, Stephanie
